Most Amtrak LD trains have been running consistently late this summer. The Empire Builders appear to be a little more reliable than the others. The problems are old equipment, poor maintenance in Chicago, staff shortages at Amtrak and the freight railroads, and terrible management at Amtrak. It almost appears that Gardner and crew want the LD trains to fail.
