There was a poster in a different thread that had an issue with one of the compression units. I haven't had any issues with mine and I always overpack, and the reason I purchased this suitcase. I have the original one, but I assume they both have the same compression gadgets. When you compress it while it is full, do you compress one said at a time? I find that doing one side at a time pretty much makes sure it's fully compressed and locked. You can feel when it totally engages. And you have to do it on a hard surface like the floor and not a bed for it to be effective.
