I'm starting to think you are right - from the initial discussion from my OP, I believed it was a credit as AA cancelled, but I now think that may be the issue - I have about 3 flight changes as the original flights were canned one after another, and I think that got lost somewhere along the way - along with my original booking - which kind of explains the problems I've been having, and AA believe I cancelled, which I didn't. And that is why AA won't put a dollar value on it.
