Reopen Closed Chase Personal Credit Card Account?
Dumb mistake yesterday, not sure if it’s a rookie mistake or an advanced mistake
, wondering if it’s fixable. Has to do with World of Hyatt personal card. Opened in December 2020, in time to get TQN in 2020 and 2021. Planned to close early next year after annual TQN and maybe anniversary FNA post and then reapply (and get another SUB) a few months later and more than 24 months from first SUB. Opened a WOH biz card few months ago with the same general plan, haven’t used the personal card for months.
Did a mini-apporama yesterday morning and in my exuberance over instant approvals and my ongoing attempts to keep total number of open accounts reasonable (whatever that is) forgot about TQNs and FNA and called Chase to move 100% of credit limit to another Chase personal account and close the account. Done. Today of course (day late dollar short
) I remembered and called Chase to request the account be reopened.
Was told “no” because the credit limit was moved and it’s “completely” closed. Asked for a manager, was told if the credit limit had not been moved they could make a request to “lending” department. Asked if I could speak with “lending”, hold for a moment, was told “lending” is only open Monday through Friday and given “lending” phone number. Plan to call/grovel first thing Monday morning.
Any experiences with reopening closed Chase credit card accounts?
