A good part of the reason my third point above is extrapolation and deduction.

Thank you, I’ve edited my third point accordingly.

Almost all of my (~ 50 different points and miles) Chase cards close on the 2nd of the month, I make that request immediately upon card receipt when activating the card, I prefer a statement to closely indicate calendar month activity. I rarely (if ever) cut it so close with Chase that December charges (Jan 2 statement) are important toward a reward threshold, always try to wrap it up for the year by the December 2nd statement specifically to avoid this situation. I cannot write from experience about this situation.

AmEx and some partners (Delta et. al.) post some bonuses on the date the applicable charge posts, regardless of statement closing date. On the contrary, Chase (at least for WOH cards) and WOH post bonuses within 1 day of statement date. Presumably Chase “sends” to WOH either points and TQN or Chase “sends” to WOH information about spending (and then WOH posts appropriate points and TQN) within 1 day of statement billing date. Those points (bonus or spend based) and TQN subsequently post to WOH within 1 day. It seems unlikely that WOH is told or knows the specific date for individual charges or the specific date that $5K or $15K in charges is attained. WOH would seem to know only that a threshold was reached as of (within prior 30-31 days) of statement date.

My WOH statement which closed mid January included the spend and final nights I needed to hit 60 nights this year. Any elite nights earned by spend will be backdated if you cross the $5k threshold in that year. I did this purposely to extend the length of time I'd have to use my cat 1-7 cert
Please clarify re “My WOH statement which closed mid January included the spend and final nights I needed to hit 60 nights this year.” Perhaps does “this year” mean “2021” (“last year”)? Does “final nights” mean the last 2 or the first 2 to get to 60 … for 2021 or 2022? “60 nights this year” presumably 2022? Are you stating that you knew in December 2021 & January 2022 (mid January statement) that you needed credit card TQN to hit 60 nights in 2022? Thank you.
