Yes, but crediting to AS in hopes you'll get upgraded as an MVP is a gamble that's unlikely to pay off. There are simply too many elites on AS and AA ahead of you. If you consolidate your programs you'll enjoy the benefits of being an upper-tier elite which will make flying on both airlines more pleasurable.

Edited to add: You may even be able to call AS and ask them to release the fights you credited to them and call AA and ask them to credit to their program instead to help you reach the next rung faster.
