Just did 2 nights here. Have also stayed many times at Westin and Doubletree.
-Short version is that there's really nothing here that you won't find at the Westin. Newer? Sure. Better restaurant? Probably, maybe. Rooms are pretty comparable to Westin. Everything is good. HVAC works splendidly. Brand new bedding. Shower great. The design choices range from lovely to horrific. Obviously the river views are here. You need to figure out if the location works for you. If you were seeing a broadway show at Tivoli, I would want to be at the Westin. Just depends on your needs. I would not be paying a large premium to stay here over Westin. 50K vs 35K points, it's a no brainer.
-Platinum gets free breakfast and a $10 FandB voucher. Make sure you ask for the vouchers at check in. They might forget. Pretty generous. I went to the quick service coffee shop this morning and blew my voucher. They had three 20 something yr old "bros" working in it. Was pretty comical. They probably spent 10 mins making my latte. No extras. Just a latte. It was like they were learning how to make a latte as I watched. Shockingly, it was a really good latte.
-Noise levels are pretty low. There were fireworks at 11 PM nearby though. Very loud.
-Rooftop pool and patio is quite lovely. Gym is nice but equipment is NOT new. Borrowed from another old property.
-I don't think this place is eager to give elite upgrades. I get the feeling that the GM is trying to milk money. The longer I spend in this game, the more I realize that hotel GM's basically determine their upgrade policy. Program irrelevant... Some, like Park Hyatt NYC are insanely stingy. Others like Hyatt MCO are generous. I don't stay in enough high end Marriotts to know, frankly.
So yeah. If price were equal, I would prefer this slightly to all other options. For $150 or 15K less points, I think the Westin wins.
