Trying to book on Delta.com shows no available flights but if I select multi-city with the two one-ways (same day) it will allow me to book with 5 hours at DTW between the two.

If I just booked the flight as a multi-city is there any downside (other than the long layover, which I'm fine with)? Will this still be considered a single ticket for potential cancellation/rebooking purposes?
DL treats seperate DL tickets as one for all intents on DoD. However multicity will be issued on one ticket.
