Rooms Need Attention
Introduction Nice Service, Very Poor Room Condition Room This room 'updgade' is one to avoid. The kicthen has oversized counter-sitting appliances and looks cluttered and mis-matched. The room is very dark and when the window shades are opened, both living and bedroom look directly at rooftop/aircon venting, so leave them closed. The room furnishings were poorly laid out...there were two chairs back in a dark corner of the room and the TV is clearly on the wrong wall to make this layout work. The pull out couch cushions (standard HH couch that I've seen elsewhere) were completely worn/deflated and sunk into the pull out as soon as I sat down...it is unusable as a couch. So if you don't want to sit back in the dungeon chairs or the couch, the kitchen island has a strange office-style chair to look at the TV and eat or work on the laptop...literally the only place to sit in the room. The bathroom door lock had been broken and "repaired" poorly with the new over-sized fastener currently dangling.I don't understand how management (or Hyatt) can stand behind this room condition Dining There were plentiful options in the lobby sundry shop from frozen meals, drinks, desserts, snacks, A-->Z. I had breakfast two mornings and it was a standard offering which was well-looked after and clean by the staff. Location The front desk recommended Gravity Heights brewpub with nice environment, outdoor seating and good happy hour - it is less than a 5 minute walk from the hotel and is worth a visit. Check In I was welcomed as Globalist and offered an upgraded room and two bottles of water (self-serve). I was surprised for this suburban-style hotel to have a $12/day permited parking. During my stay, parking was not at a premium. This seemed like a grab to me. Service Freindly and always got a hello in comings/goings. Overall Hyatt offerings in San Diego seem to fill up/get expensive and this property was the only one within corp spend limits for this trip - that said, I would not return unless I read that the property rooms had been upgraded - it was that poor.
