Hele-On Route 80 is mainly used by resort workers who live in Hilo or Hamakua which is why you see very early departure times and very few stops at the KOA airport. This is especially true for Mauna Kea resort. The area that the bus picks up and drops off at Mauna Kea is past the secuirty guard house at the intersection of Mau’umae Beach (second right).

There are many more scheduled times if using Waikola Beach resort area since the bus stops at the parking area by A-Bay.

The bus is free, but it is a very slow ride with many stops and not always on schedule.
