it is not the airport tax which is expensive, it is the Lufthansa surcharges, which is expensive. like 8 bucks for security and 15 bucks for gasoline per leg. the taxes (which show up as RD (departure) and RA (arrival taxes) on a lufthansa ticket are not high at all. it is the XT surcharge, which is nuts and also makes award tickets more expensive than lowcostcarrier fares in Europe.
