I have zero checked bags allowance showing in EY record locator (J class - AA award ticket) with a prompt field that wants me to buy baggage allowance.
There is no checked bag allowance information on the issued e-ticket from AA.
I was on the phone with AA for a long time, we went into elaborate way how tickets are requested & come through EY back to AA. At this point, it is clear that this is not an AA issue, it is just the way the form is set up for AA to fill up when making a request for a reservation to be ticketed, it is prefilled form that EY has filled and there is another place to add a comment on a separate line which is rather odd when compared to ticketing with other partners as I understood.
At the end, the supervisor was super diligent, was going to document in detail, bring this issue to their supervisor.
The supervisor helped to reissue after discussing with EY desk and even EY was confused as to how this was happening.
I will have to wait & see if the issue gets resolved once the ticket reissues.
I learnt a big lesson to check the e-tkt in detail and also on the carrier side using the record locator, by default I would have just gone to the airport with my bags.
I feel EY is playing games here trying to take advantage of unsuspecting folks who show up to the checkin counter, they should use the rules listed on EY website and not rely on the ticket spelling it again explicitly. The ticket already has travel class, note that EY also has a wide range of baggage allowance in each travel class which implies they want this additional information of baggage allowance on the same class of travel to disambiguate the allowed baggage allowance. All of this does not look good on EY's part that makes it difficult for customers.
Hope all of this gets fixed in the system without customers have to discover, worry , spending time/money
