I have minimal expectations that we'll get to go and I'm actively planning a replacement trip. If we end up cancelling that will probably end my desire to travel to Japan. I've wanted to go for 15 years and being at the precipice for the last 4 years has really just driven the excitement out of it.
I've also been following your saga for a long time -- and I'm sorry to report that Japan -- for so many reasons -- simply doesn't seem care about ANY foreigner at all -- much less a honeymoon trip. And their citizens 100% support this! (in spite of the hospitality community objections). I would only advise you to consider that Japan is clearly the most ethnocentric country in the world (the data is clear -- don't need any hate mail) -- and also the second oldest (behind Italy) -- so there are "valid" medical reasons lol... As a spouse of a Japanese citizen -- and as someone that owns property in Japan -- and have for a decade -- it takes me months just to get a single use visa to visit my wife and family in Japan -- Japan is a complex society with many reasons for current policies which on the one hand I understand completely -- and on the other hand makes me crazy -- welcome to Japan of 2022 -- best way I can describe it is to imagine Trump boxing Hillary with Biden as the referee and Fox news as the broadcaster..
