Yeah, this thread is particularly nasty. Compensation exists for situations such as this, it would be a different story if the OP was complaining about a delay related to weather, ATC, airport issues, acts of God etc. Mechanical falls into that rare "controllable" category despite what others are saying.

Did they pay for your hotel, did they pay for it, or were you local & went home? Should be able to get your hotel reimbursed if so.

Also make sure to check on your health and go to the doctor if you feel funny, these fume events are no joke and several airline employees have died or had permanent disabilities from prolonged exposure.
