We've just spent 2 days at the Waldorf using credit card free night certs. We liked it well enough to book 2 more nights in October, consuming the final certs that we have. It's so much easier now given that Hilton allows us to book any night of the week and not just weekend nights. Let me go sidebar about this. I found several nights open in the first half of October. I found one night in November. I checked thru May of 2023 and found nothing. Once I booked the two nights in October, I apparently consumed the standard night inventory. Those nights then dropped off as available.

Our stay was excellent. The service is all that those of you who have stayed recently have said. I really like being able to text to ask for anything. Staff is extremely responsive.

I had high expectations for an upgrade as a diamond. I checked and saw several higher category rooms/suites available. All we were offered was a higher level room with a better view. I was told that the rooms I saw were not in the upgrade pool for diamonds. I had seen a 3 bedroom villa the prior day, no longer available when I checked in. And I had read upthread that some got that as an upgrade. I was told that the villa is in the upgrade pool whereas the Dos Mareas suite is not. I write this in hopes of helping folks set appropriate expectations.

The hotel is running at 90% occupancy, unusual as this is off season, very hot and coming up on hurricane season. Staff is delighted to have the property full Covid has been difficult for everyone.

We were celebrating a milestone anniversary. I really liked the dessert that was left in our room.
