Maybe I should have been clearer between 'theoretical' and 'actual' - since the TS can (presumably) be overridden at any stage: typically Mrs CKBA has the window, and me the middle in the hope that the aisle seat is blocked, but usually 'whoopie, it's a vacant asile seat' kicks in and it is filled.
I mean you and mrs ckba

if the seat beside you is not occupied at t-72 then ts will block it. It blocks most of the unoccupied seats leaving only a few seats for people to choose when they check in.

Over time as the cabin fills blocked seats need to be released so that more people can check in.

TS cannot really be overriden (there probably is a way but it is unlikely to happen often). Its an algorithm based on the particular airlines rules which seats to unblock. Ba uses status strongly.

I suspect all that is happening is the flight is filling up and the seat become naturally unblocked for someone to choose.

i would love to watch the seat map from around t-75.

i would like to see if ba's implementation of ts favours unblocking aisle seats or middle seats

as i travel on my own its always a middle beside me which always starts off blocked but may or may not be occupied by the time the flight departs
