I will be traveling on SQ24, arriving at T4 at 6:30pm on one itinerary. I need to travel back to Tampa with DL and am looking at DL2099 that departs at 7:29pm. That’s 59 minutes connecting in the same terminal, but an international connection. I have global entry, I do not (yet) have clear. I will not have any checked luggage. I am traveling in J if that matters. While I can spend the night in JFK, I’d much rather head home of course after a long day as I will start my travels in KUL.
What do you folks think? I know there will always be a risk and I am willing to chance it, but if this connection is possible at all I would rather get home the same day.
Thanks
I assume you’re talking about separate bookings? There’s no way this is a legal connection (I believe it’s 1:45 for I-D).
That said, allow 10-15 minutes to walk to and clear immigration & customs, 10-15 minutes to walk upstairs to T4 security and clear (faster if you have Clear though PreCheck line usually not too bad). Then you have 15-25 minutes to get to the departure gate by T-15 when you could lose your seat. If you’re at a high B gate or a C gate in terminal 2 it will be very close. There’s not much margin for error, especially if the inbound SQ flight is even slightly delayed. But doable if everything goes right and you’re willing to risk having to rebook for the next day at potentially walk-up prices (assuming the JFK-TPA segment is the first/only leg of the ticket.)
