Answering my own question, the AC works well in the living area of our suite, not so much in the bedroom, but it's not terrible -- setting it on 15 in the living area got it to 18 there and 20 in the bedroom.
Overall this place seems like a decent Sheraton for a one-night stay... the lounge food isn't great but the staff are wonderful (take whatever you want, you want vodka, here take the bottle! etc). Lobby, restaurant, lounge, and our junior suite are all visually appealing.
