If you book the cheapest flight you can find for yourself (say, 50-100 dollars) the unused part of the flight credit will be converted to a trip credit which both has a book by expiry date a year from today/booking AND is useable for anyone. It you can't use the flight credit for yourself, that's the best and only way. (And if you're not flying it, that "cheapest flight" can be anywhere in the system since it's a throwaway anyway)
