Putting cost value aside, it seemed to me that Aman Tokyo might be the most lux/unique of the various 5 star hotel options. However, I know that the hotel is now getting to about 10 years old and I don't believe they've had a refresh since they initially opened. For those who have been recently, does the Aman feel a bit worn down given how long it has gone without a refurbishment?
Are any of the other hotels/ryokans in Tokyo more luxurious and nice than Aman? Below are things I'm looking for:
- Views (definitely want top of skyscraper city views)
- Gorgeous lobby
- Quality in room breakfast
- View out of the bathtub (I know Aman and a few others are the only ones that have this, so willing to sacrifice this if there's a better overall option)
- Overall luxurious room that has some unique flair and not soulless
Also - I'm visiting Kyoto as well on this trip and have so far decided on a split stay between Park Hyatt Kyoto and Aman Kyoto. Are these good options and are there better options than this?
I've stayed at the Park Hyatt Kyoto twice this year and just love it. I also thought the Ritz Carlton Nikko was just amazing.
