I recently had a 2 night stay here. As the room looked the same as in Starflyergold's pictures, I'll just do a mini review.
- What is your ALL status? Platinum
- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Very happy
- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? I used 2 SNUs to book a Junior Suite, but was upgraded to a Prestige Suite, which I appreciated
- How are the rooms? Exactly as in Starflyergold's pictures.
The Prestige Suite is large, nicely decorated and comfortable. It comes with a TOTO toilet with a built-in bidet and even a dryer. Hermes and Lanvin are now gone, replaced by Diptique products in large dispensers. My room overlooked the park and was perfectly peaceful and quiet.
- What was good and what was bad?
Good:
- Breakfast! Quantity-wise it could've been better, but quality-wise... it was probably the best breakfast I've ever had in a hotel in my life! The vegetables in particular really impressed me, especially the tomatoes. You could tell by the flavour they were not store bought, but home grown. Eggs Benedict were fantastic as well.
- There is a TV built into the bathroom mirror, that you can watch from the bathtub, for example. I had never seen that before and was quite blown away
- The welcome note acknowledged that I was a return guest - I really appreciated that, it shows that the hotel pays attention to such things. There are hotels that I've been to 20+ times and they always treat me as if I was there for the first time.
- The A/C works perfectly.
- I had asked for a room overlooking the park and that's what I got.
- The room was ready at 10 AM when we arrived.
- The staff are very nice and eager to please.
- The lobby is very cosy and beautiful, as well as the bar.
- The location is perfect, in walking distance of the city centre.
Bad:
- The hotel has become very expensive, I don't remember it being so expensive before.
- The pool that they advertise, but which actually belongs to a health club next door, is rarely available, they seem to have water aerobics and similar activities at all times of day, I wasn't able to use it once.
- The hideous bathroom tiles are still there and are still stained.
- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge? N/A
- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks? Welcome drink voucher for 2. There is now a list of all the drinks you can get as an elite member and it's very long, it includes all sorts, cocktails, spirits, champagne, you name it. Welcome amenity was a large box of Tunisian pralines.
- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return? I would return, absolutely, it's one of my favourite hotels. Even though it's expensive, it's worth it, in my opinion.
