You cannot upgrade an award ticket ticket using any instrument that requires C space (miles/copay, SWU, etc.).

The only real options are either A) change to a business class award if space becomes available, or B) check your reservation online and in the app to see if AA is offering any kind buy-up for cash upgrade offer.
