I received a cancellation email from Aer Lingus at 3am today for a Sept 5 flight from ORD -DUB-ZUR. They said it would take up to 24 hours to rebook but I'm guess they're just going to move us out to the 6th which would not work for our purposes (we already have booked lodging). I'm assuming it's the DUB portion that is the issue (I was hoping there would be less issues with EL versus SAS and so far that is not happening LOL). It's more than 14 days out which means I don't get compensation under the EU241? rules.

Is Aer Lingus responsible for us losing us the 1 day of lodging cost? Or is it possible for them to reroute me to Sept 4th flight without a fare difference? Are there any other options/compensation I need to consider? However, unfortunately our group booked our tickets separately since we all wanted to pay on our own so I wonder if we can get the same routing for 6 different itineraries.
