"Stupid" seems a bit harsh. But let's put our thinking caps on and assess this logically. If you purchase an Alaska Airlines gift card, from Costco, who will be the merchant of record, and thus technically you actually have not purchased anything from Alaska Airlines (remember, your purchase was from Costco) do you see the problem (and thus the answer)?
