That situation happened to me during a trip with Goldorak & Nicolas75 in YUL a couple of years ago. At security, one person had exactly the same laptop as mine and I took hers by mistake. I did not realize until I received a Facebook DM from her saying that she found my laptop!
Good luck for that, I feel for you but the other person has no reason not to want his/her belongings either!
