I disagree. Sure if everything goes right, you should be able to track your luggage, but then we have all these horror stories going on right now with missing, misplaced or tossed luggage and people not receiving it for over a month if ever. Using personal trackers gives you some control over the process. Of course it's not perfect either, but better than leaving it completely in someone else's hands.
Truth. I've had one colleague who was told their bag hadn't made it on their flight. Being able to show them that the Airtag was seen in the airport a few minutes ago can often get them to understand that the bag is there. Also every time I've flown since Airtags came out my Airtag has been seen at least once by the time I got to baggage claim. It's a very nice feeling to be sure your bag is in the airport you are in somewhere.
