That post quoted is from nearly 6 years ago. As asked and answered in the other thread, AA will not check baggage through across separate reservations
If having to collect baggage is a big issue , then you need to rebook as a through booking or rebook onto QR DFW--DOH since QR will , I believe, check through (but check on the QR forum)
