If your baggage was lost, Ethiopian will pay the compensation. It will take a while, but they will eventually come through. Keep in mind that they demand the receipts for everything in the bag, and even for the bag itself.
If it was just delayed and subsequently delivered (as seems to be the case), you will have a much more difficult time making the claim. Contact the local Ethiopian office in either Istanbul or Dar and keep emailing them until you get a response. It usually takes me around 6-8 months to finally get a settlement in cases like this but they inevitably wind up paying most of my claim value (but never the full amount - even if it is just $1-2 less that what I claim!).
