Left field option but fly to Oslo and take the train to Geilo or bus to Lillehammer. Great slopes for beginners and something a but different compred to the Alps or Canada. A but on the pricy side if you are in a hotel with half board but renting a cabin is nice. Done it a couple of times. Have also done Stowe and Killington as a beginner which is pretty good as it allowed us to take the daytime return from Boston (if that still exists) which is good if in WT. Nowadays it is Switzerland because the prices mean the slopes are less crowded, which I know sounds a bit snobby but if you are measuring time on skis rather than time in queues then my man maths calculator comes out about even.
