Some pros and cons from my 2nd stay at CAA last night (as well as photos):
Pros:
- Staff is uniformly friendly - housekeepers, room service staff, ground floor security, bell staff all asking how my stay is going
- Very comfortable bed - two pillows lumpy but two were quite plush
- Great shower pressure - didn't seem too spurty out of the half-glass
- Delicious room service breakfast fully covered and delivered quickly - pancakes and side of bacon - IRD delivered on real plates now
- Room (x11) had an actual view of the Sears/Willis Tower
- Wi-Fi actually wasn't bad this time
Cons:
- No upgrade - bunch of room types avaiable at 6 AM and then none available at 9 AM - oh, well, it was a Saturday - they blamed it on a wedding, but the wedding wasn't suddenly planned, so why were the suites being sold?
- Arrived at 9 AM, told room would be rushed after the person checked in at Noon, asked at 1 PM and told the person was actually checking out at 2 PM, had to go up and ask at 3 PM and the room was magically ready (no text or call received)
- X11 is the same floorplan I got last time - it's a good one, but didn't really give me anything to explore
- Broken window shade couldn't be fixed and just had to be removed
- Missing waters - delivered a large bottle after I asked
- Bad noise isolation with connecting door
- Slow elevators exacerbated by one car being out of service most of Saturday
Notes:
- Room service breakfast menu still more extensive than Drawing Room or Cherry Creek Room brunch menus - breakfast voucher specifies IRD or Drawing Room options, but I was told I could take the Cherry Creek weekend brunch that starts at 9 AM - pancakes only on IRD, so that's what I picked
I would still return - despite the issues, everyone is very nice, and the rooms are pretty darn comfortable and unique - like chilling out in a dark closet!
