I did contact Three and they said these pay as you go sims are not charged for data roaming in the EU. Hopefully they are correct. Just to be safe, I will activate in the UK between flights. Not sure about voice calls but I don't need that anyway as all my calls are through GV.
I'm with 3 and although I am grandfathered into "Go roam" on PAYM, it always struck me as odd that PAYG had free roaming but PAYM didn't. Anyway, I will leave them when the contract is up as they have gone from the best for roaming to one of the worst imho.
