demue thank you for your insight about SQ return catering :
I presumed this was only applicable to Silkair (MI) flights in the past to leisure destinations like JOG or SOC with short time aircraft turnover.
I can appreciate SQ trying to promote local flavours in their onboard menu but indeed some renditions don't do to well at 10km in the sky and it turns almost a mockery of the real thing on the ground.
You could say that BTC has been toned down a lot with most dishes having the >4H flight duration cut off time.
That leaves limited choice and also takes not in effect that some passengers connecting from longhaul from different time zones would prefer only breakfast or heavy choices.
In the past i always chose the BTC breakfast choice pudding of chia seeds as this was a light and sweet alternative compared to the heavy bricks of Nasi Lemak and the western omlette with sausages.
Compared to flights to / from USA where the choices are
always:
- veg pasta / chicken / beef
- continental breakfast / eggs something
I am still glad though that SQ offers asian flavours !
Thanks for the headsup of the BTC Nasu Dengaku,
i was almost swaying to chose that one but then it reminded me to much of the eggplant wizard of the Kid Icarus game !
