Arrived 5-20pm, digital key didn’t arrive on my phone at all and FD guy seemed surly and robotic, there was also a sign saying the pool was closed for maintenance too, I was not too fussed as the steam room was open but the jacuzzi and sauna was out of action so I heard many complaints from other folk checking in asking why they was not informed before traveling to the hotel….not a good start!.
QUEEN GUEST ROOM - Top floor end of corridor, I chose this as I know they often hold weddings here and wanted to be far away from function room, to be fair it’s a decent size , clean and tidy…… queen sized bed ( uk king size ) dark wood against beige decor , slightly old fashioned but it works well.
BATHROOM - it’s small , white walls and marble effect….. it’s again clean and appears new, no bath but monsoon shower ( my lady took a shower earlier and claims it’s the best Hilton shower yet! )….. usual toiletries and fluffy towels.
I went to the spa to use the steam room , I wouldn’t usually use a steam room as there is a high covid risk but gym manager said there had been nobody in all day so I proceeded….obviously I had the whole area to myself as the pool, sauna and jacuzzi was out of bounds….changing rooms run down and untidy .
GYM - didn’t indulge but had a look, medium sized for a hotel, reasonable amount of equipment.
DINNER - decided to walk ( 7 mins ) to the local Marsden’s pub opposite hotel, we had a great meal and dessert ( I recommend the chicken and chorizo kebabs with honey and pomegranates ) , it was a very clean and nice place to have dinner, service was good too.
Now back in room about to retire, air conditioning is very good and bed comfy……will report back!
