I booked a multi city ticket on AA: AAA-BBB-CCC to maximize EQM earning.
Months later AA changed it to a more direct routing AAA-DDD-CCC, but original flights AAA-BBB and BBB-CCC are still available.
The more direct routing also involves a departure schedule change of more than 4 hours.
Did I violate any AA fare rules by buying this multi city ticket that goes south (BBB) before heading north (CCC) ?

AA eliminated EQMs earlier this year. The new metric for attaining status is ""Loyalty Points." If all flights on your ticket are AA-coded, the number of Loyalty Points you'll earn will be based on the pre-tax price of your ticket, regardless of how many flights -- or miles -- you actually fly.
