At some places Clear+PreCheck is much faster than being just PreCheck.

For immigration/customs, Clear is useless while Global Entry is anything but that.

For those who have U18 children who are 13 or older but happen not to have PreCheck/Global Entry/TTP membership and don’t happen to get PreCheck for their 13 or older minor children or themselves for whatever ridiculous reason DHS/TSA has, Clear members can take such children with them through the Clear lines and speed up the process that way even when only the accompanying adult has Clear membership.

One reason at times to sign up for Clear when Amex reimburses it: to earn United miles on the relative cheap.
