My second room in the Barlow Wing of the hotel was completely different and like a regular Marriott hotel. Peaceful too. The Chambers room overlooked the station. I could hear the train announcements begin every morning at 7am!
The staff at the hotel were particularly engaging and friendly on a stay here last weekend, especially Benjamin as part of the front desk / bell desk team who has been there for 11 years, since the property opened.
I was traveling with two young children and the staff were very welcoming and responsive towards them. On one evening, my little boy was crying about a lost balloon and the receptionist actually went into the back office and blew up two new ones.
They also gave them various London souvenir gifts on different occasions too which I thought was a nice touch.
It is great to see the Chambers Club is back open once again. The lounge offerings were great although it would be nice to see some diet soft drinks as an option in the fridge.
Also - in the Club, it would be a nice idea to introduce plastic cups (even reusable) for children instead of glass.
To-go / takeaway boxes would also be good to have for people who just want a quick grab-and-go option. I heard several people asking for them but it is not an option. Neither is there any olive oil!
There were a couple of teething problems with housekeeping... empty shampoo bottles were not replaced which is really frustrating to have to call down for more.
On one day, the maid left a bag of rubbish inside our room. It wasn't just our rubbish either but from other rooms too! Pretty disgusting. I took it down to the front desk not knowing what else to do with it.
You are so right. Suites that are just a large room. At St Pancras they aren’t even that large. Yes to no sugar soft drinks. Cost less, too.
