It is a matter of respectr towards the chef, the staff and the other guests to wear appropriate attire. In the case of a T shirt a jacket over it would be fine. Nobody asks for a tuxedo

living in Switzerland... I really feel it is very sad, that there are no dress codes. Anybody can come dressed as they wish in any type of restaurant. That's really bad, nobody cares any more...
most men in Switzerland will refuse to wear a tie, for instance. Even the banks are losening the work dress code.
It's a sad development, but we have to live with it.
