Oversold hotel -- Compensation for Titanium Members?
I tried to check in to a Residence Inn last night, and was told that the hotel was overbooked and that they had me set up at a different hotel (non-Marriott) for the first night, and that I would be able to check in at the RI the following day. Am I correct in thinking that some level of compensation is appropriate under Marriott Bonvoy's 48+ Hour Guarantee and/or the Ultimate Reservation Guarantee? If so, how much is correct? Looking at the Bonvoy Terms and Conditions, it seems to indicate $100 and 90,000 points for Residence Inns under the "Ultimate Reservation Guarantee" section, but I'm not sure what the compensation would be for failing to honor the 48+ Hour Guarantee.
Can anyone shed light on this from past experience? I'm planning to discuss with the hotel when I arrive for the second night of my stay.
