If a Hilton Diamond member books and pays for a family member to stay at a Hilton property but the family member is Gold, Does the guest benefit from Gold or Diamond benefits?

As a rule of thumb, benefits only apply to up to two people in one room...the elite member and the guest. They will not apply to a second room booked by the elite. I have had this happen on numerous occasions as I have traveled with friends / family. That said, I have had some success in the past getting the second room upgraded to the executive floor with lounge access, but the hotel was a bit empty at the time.
