Whereas I'm no fan of the SkyTrain, it does have that direct link to The Emporium.
I have had so many confrontations with taxi drivers in Bangkok. Once taxi driver locked the doors and refused me to leave the car and just drove around in circles while being heavily intoxicated. My strategy now when i book a hotel in Bangkok is to try to map out my where im going to spend most of the time and plan accordingly. Direct BTS access via walkway is a huge plus also for me.
I have given up using regular taxis completely and always use Uber or Bolt. Uber black if available.
