That flexibility works well for both the hotel and I, since I will have to make the vacation reservations several months in advance -- always the chance that my family member might not be able to make it. I gather I would just tell the desk, when checking in, that I need the bed pulled apart and made up separately into the two twins -- no big deal for them, I am sure.

If hotels other than those several Luxury Hotels also have rooms with "king beds" that are actually two twin beds, it would be helpful if they were listed so -- just a suggestion for 2005 ...
Actually, if it were me, I would call The Luxury Collection at 800-325-3589 once I knew what kind of bedding arrangement I needed so it could be set up for me in advance.

If the King bedding type description does not say "2 Twins joined as a King", there isn't going to be 2 Twins joined as a King available in the room. It would be a standard King instead.
