Well I finally got around to contacting Qatar. Despite getting an approval SMS from my credit card, they say the payment was declined. Very disappointing I got no notification from them, and of course the unicorn availability is gone.

I have this in my account activity: Award Ticket - Flight:QR845/KUL-DOH/05-SEP-2022,QR725/DOH-ORD/06-SEP-2022(RIEVDO)

If thats the confirmation number at the end, it doesn't open to anything anymore.

Pretty disappointing experience. At least when I called in they refunded the Avios immediately, so perhaps I lucked out there. They said i should have called right away if it didn't show as confirmed, but my experience booking other airlines is they need a little time to assemble the ticket.

So net, if you don't get a confirmation immediately, be sure to call Qatar as they don't give you any notice when something goes wrong (and keep your points!)
