The points/ cash rate of my room was 30,000 / $704. I had reached out to World of Hyatt directly and will see what they say but it seems I am SOL otherwise. Very disappointing experience overall.
My conversation has been entirely with the reservation manager so far, so maybe I would have more luck with the property manager.
A comparable suite (I assume you confirmed a standard suite with a TSU) at either of these properties for 30,000 points per night would seem to be an equivalent stay, even if you initially didn't pick either of these properties. If there's no standard suite available, the next (better) category of suite would be appropriate.
I realize that Gary got his stay totally comped, but I wonder whether he got better treatment as a blogger, using his contacts. His resolution seems unreasonably generous to me, despite his comments that this is standard policy according to an unnamed Hyatt executive referring to an apparently unpublished policy.
