I’ve done both BA via LHR and UA IAD to EDI very recently and they were both completely uneventful. The capacity controls appear to make LHR viable I would say if the flight runs. UA is still the best option I think because they are running a 767-400 which has plenty of J seats if you have instruments and comfortable Y.
