A few years back (prior to PS) had a GUC applied DTW-Europe (not sure, probably AMS). Had a short connection in DTW. I had been showing as #1 for a while (for one seat) but got to gate and last seat in D1 was gone.

Agent said they'd been paging me - but I landed late. Agent downgraded the person they gave the D1 seat to and gave it to me.

If I was that person I'd be furiated. But I was on the good end so got over it
