Looks like forthcoming Viasat-3 Americas Ka band satellites will cover the Pacific as far as Hawaii, but the current Viasat-2 Ka satellites do not -- https://www.viasat.com/space-innovat...lite-internet/

While I haven't seen anything definitive on this, I suspect the DL announced free WIFI offering will be based around the Viasat-3 system.
