When "Faster WiFi" = "No WiFi" (737-9 LAX-HNL)

This may be discussed elsewhere, but I couldn't find it. Currently (since it changes in winter) DL is flying two 737-900 flights and one 757 flight most days LAX-HNL. DL.com as you know has small banners labeling the 737-900 as "New WiFi" or "Faster WiFi." However, the 737-900 WiFi does not operate over the Pacific, so you basically can have "Faster WiFi" for 30 minutes or so from the mainland.

Just a PSA for those looking to fly that route - if you need WiFi, the 757 flight is your only option.

Others more informed than me will know why Viasat service doesn't operate over the Pacific, and whether it's intended to do so at some point. I do think it's funny that DL.com advertises the Faster WiFi though on these bookings..
