It could have been. Though, I don't have a clear memory of the check in agent.

I do recall some confusion on being asked to weigh the carry on when i responded that it was my checked bag. I think just checking my cabin roller short-circuited her process.

My personal theory is that new and non-dedicated J checkin staff are the bag weighers. Though I have no proof.
