Last week I was told via text that "You are on a companion certificate so you are ineligible for upgrades" when I inquired about something similar. However, my companion has no status other than AA Gold, which does not qualify for upgrades on AS.

I did not bother responding since I've never had any upgrades process on AS, even with space available, when booked with a companion (even not on a companion pass).
