My point was more that most people do not travel enough (business + leisure) on routes that AS serves to make use of the challenge. And many of those that do will ignore it and just continue to book whatever's cheapest with no FF number attached. For the vast majority of the population, this is just marketing junk that they don't care about And of course of the people who both fly enough and care, a lot of them already have high level status.
So even if 3 million people are eligible... it's relevant to, maybe, a few thousand?
